The Department of Gerontology & Centre for Research on Ageing, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission, is offering 10 Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships to study on the MSc Gerontology (Distance Learning) in 2022-23.
Who can apply?
Citizens from any Commonwealth country are welcome to apply.
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates should have a minimum of an upper second class (2:1) Bachelors Honours or equivalent degree in the Economic, Social and Political Sciences or a field relevant to Gerontology. Candidates should also have, or plan to take shortly, an IELTS test (minimum 6.5 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each component).

Through an exciting collaboration between the Universities of Southampton, Brighton and Portsmouth, the South Coast DTP aims to deliver the latest developments in training in research methods and skills to produce highly qualified and rounded social scientists, equipped to meet contemporary economic and social challenges. Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the South Coast DTP will be awarding a minimum of 38 studentships per year to social scientists carrying out PhD studies, or Masters + PhD studies at its three partner institutions.

The Postgraduate Research Scholarship (Presidential Scholarships) fund runs annually and is administered by the Doctoral College.
The scholarships will cover full fees, a stipend and a research training and support grant for up to 3.5 years (or 84 months pro rata for part time students).

In addition, there is an opportunity to apply for Bursaries for the same programme: £3,000 bursaries to applicants classed as international fee applicants with a 1st class or 2.1 Undergraduate degree in a Social Sciences subject with relevance to ageing; £2,000 bursaries open to UK applicants with a 1st class or 2.1 Undergraduate degree; and £5,000 bursaries open to applicants with a 1st class or 2.1 Undergraduate degree who are EU nationals resident in an EU country.
