This team studies the impact of dementias in everyday living, more specifically the impact on patients' abilities to live independently and family burden. This group is part of, and works closely with, the Old Age Psychiatry research group (Prof John O'Brien).
The post-holder will be based at Addenbrooke's Hospital and will be responsible for all aspects of a pilot clinical trial of the Tailored Activities Program (TAP), which is funded by an American Dementia Grant, and related activities of the group.
The post-holder will be responsible for identifying potentially eligible participants, screening for eligibility, obtaining consent for participation, data collection, delivery of the TAP intervention and data entry. In addition they will liaise with members of the clinical care team if required, the USA team and attend local and national research-related meetings. Other support research tasks may be required.
Candidates should have an occupational therapy qualification, appropriate professional qualifications, and significant post-registration experience. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and current research practices is essential and a familiarity of dementia practices is desirable.
The post will be initially appointed to until 31st December 2015 at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge's research associate salary scale, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.
