Creativity and Archaeology
Creativity is embedded in human history. Indeed, it is impossible to understand material change and the development of the new without invoking creativity. The location, exploration and analysis of creativity should therefore be of particular concern to archaeologists. This lecture explores the relationship between creativity and archaeology in past and present through three complementary lines of enquiry: the investigation of creativity in the past (in particular prehistory), the ways in which the past can inspire creativity in the present, and consideration of Archaeology itself as a form of creative practice.
This lecture will be chaired by Professor Stephanie Moser , Head of Archaeology. Refreshments will be served from 17:30 and the lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. This is a free lecture however you must book to attend and receive joining instructions.
Each of the Inaugural Lectures in Humanities will have an end of lecture collection for the speaker's nominated charity. For her lecture Professor Sofaer has chosen to support Young Minds .
