Event details

On Wednesday 20 April 2016, 1700-1900, the Special Collections will host the latest in its “explore the collections” events focusing on the theme of philanthropy. From 1700 visitors will have the opportunity to view an array of material drawn from the manuscript and printed collections. This will be followed by a 30 minutes talk given by Professor David Brown, of the University of Southampton, and then refreshments. Professor Brown is currently working on a project to publish the diaries of the great Victorian social reformer and philanthropist, the seventh Earl of Shaftesbury.


Programme:

1700-1750: Opportunity to view resources of the Special Collections resources: Archvies and Manuscripts reading room, Level 4, Hartley Library

1800-1830: Talk by Professor David Brown, University of Southampton: Library Conference Room, Level 4, Hartley Library

1830-1900: Tea
