Dr Mark Richardson joined the University of Southampton from the Medical Device Industry (Smith and Nephew Plc) in December 2017 to lead the newly formed National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC). NBIC is a BBSRC and Innovate UK Innovation Knowledge Centre (IKC) formed along with a consortium of other UK Universities including Liverpool, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Queen's University Belfast, Dundee, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Swansea, University of the West of England, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Imperial College London and Cambridge. The NBIC has wide-ranging industrial and academic links both nationally and internationally.
