Karen recently joined Southampton Business School, in the Department of Digital and Data Driven Marketing, bringing with her 16 years of teaching and key academic administrative role experience in another institution (Faculty Employability & Enterprise Coordinator, Curriculum Director for Undergraduate Marketing Programmes and Course Leader for three Undergraduate Marketing programmes, at Principal Lecturer level).
Karen teaches on a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and is Module Leader for Services Value for Digital Managers L5 and Design Thinking in Marketing L7. She is a Dissertation Supervisor and Personal Academic Tutor and mentor for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
I like to live by the motto “Every day is a school day”, indicating my passion for life-long learning.
Her active research interest and engagement in enterprise and employability development, enables her to support the University’s and the School’s enterprise agenda, contributing to initiatives within and alongside curricula. She has delivered conference papers and professional development workshop sessions for staff, student and business engagement audiences in Southampton, the UK and overseas.
Her career prior to joining higher education included several years working in business-to-business marketing communications and marketing management, in technology industry organisations. Her foreign language skills, interest in overseas travel and personal experience in studying abroad means she easily relates to the international and broad-ranged student body.
Karen is an External Examiner for another UK University and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Association.
