Nassar Majothi – Director of Systems Integration, HS2
On Friday 17 May we are delighted to be welcoming Nassar Majothi – Director of Systems Integration, HS2, for his seminar: Systems Thinking, Systems Action: A look at everyday leadership challenges through a lens of interdependence
We all know that leaders take action, that is what they do! All too often those actions make things worse or have unforeseen consequences that create new problems. Systems thinking is a powerful approach to aid understanding of problems, but that is not enough, to make a difference there has to be coordinated action too. This talk will cover how leaders can think about the bigger picture, recognise interdependent situations and use simple techniques to devise and take balanced actions that work towards their goals.

Towards a circular economy - The case of the built environment... and beyond
It’s time that we saw projects differently: not as a series of siloed outputs, but as interventions into pre-existing systems whose purpose is to enable people and nature to flourish together for generations. Within this context, we simply cannot continue exceeding the limits of our finite planet. Therefore, to have a sustainable future, organisations must embrace the circular economy, and we need to work together to make this a reality. The built environment is a particularly poignant example.
This event will set the context of systems-thinking by addressing the connections between outcomes, systems and interventions. Using the built environment as a test case, it will explore core concepts that inform the transition to a circular economy. By holding these principles in common, organisations can align policies, strategies and actions to work together towards a more sustainable future in the built environment and beyond.
