Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise are here to support all students at the University of Southampton regardless of your level of study.

We recognise the individual needs of our research community and have designed the ‘Beyond the Doctorate’ careers programme specifically for our doctoral students and Early Career Researchers. The University of Southampton ‘Beyond the Doctorate’ programme consists of workshops, events and resources to support researchers to reflect on the skills and experience they have gained, plan their careers and secure appropriate employment or further study. We can support you to explore career options inside and outside of academia.

As well as access to our Beyond the Doctorate programme, as a postgraduate researcher you also have access to:

• Individual Ask the Adviser appointments where you can chat about anything careers-related
• University-wide careers events, including Careers Fairs , employer events and ‘Design Your Future’ workshops
• MyCareer Jobs Board where you can search for jobs, internships and volunteering opportunities
• UoS Career Mentoring Programme providing the opportunity to apply for a career mentor
• UoS Career Hub – Practise interviews using the Interview 360 software, find out more about psychometric tests and take the Career Readiness Test
• Student Innovation Projects and Innovation Challenges – work in a small group to solve a business challenge for a live client
