Routes into Law

Many students successfully pursue a career in law following their first degree. There are a variety of career options in the field of law, many of which can be explored via Prospects.

If you wish to become a solicitor or barrister, then specific training and qualifications are required. For support with identifying what route is best for you, please book an appointment with an adviser. You can also access more information on our What can I do with my Law Degree page.

It is important to research the different routes into law based on your personal circumstances and your career aims. Further useful information can also be found via the following links:

Thanks to a partnership with The University of Law, you can now apply to study their postgraduate Legal Practice Course (LPC) or LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) course at Highfield campus.

To overcome financial implications associated with the academic and vocational stages of training to become a solicitor or barrister, some course providers are offering level 7 conversion or preparation courses (such as the MA Law) which qualify for the postgraduate loan. More information on the benefits of studying a LLM can be found on allaboutlaw.co.uk.
