We currently do not have any outreach activities planned for Key Stage 2, but please do check back on this page which will be updated whenever an event is planned.
Previous activities provided for Key Stage 2 pupils are hands-on, colourful and aimed at encouraging a passion for science from an early age. Details will be advertised here and in communications to schools when the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering are able to host them in the future.
This is an interactive science event for Year 5 & 6 pupils. It includes:
Up to 300 children from local primary and junior schools participate in 'Science All Around Us'. Pupils from years 5 & 6 take part in hands-on experiments, watch demonstrations and listen to talks that highlight the fun of science and some of the important roles that it plays in today's society. The event has previously brought together staff from Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Ocean and Earth Science and Biological Sciences.
Before I came to the 'Science All Around Us' trip, I didn't really like science - now I think it's amazing and can't wait to do chemistry at secondary school.
The interactive nature of the morning was excellent and really held everyone’s attention, the enthusiasm of all the people demonstrating was also really infectious and stimulated interest in the subject.
