Confucius Classroom at Bohunt School Worthing Participating in Chinese Cultural Experience Trip to London Chinatown

On 18 July 2023, Year 7 MEP students of the Confucius Classroom at Bohunt School Worthing went on a school trip to London Chinatown with the theme of "Chinese Cultural Experience".

The students arrived at Chinatown at lunchtime and headed to the Chinese restaurant straightaway to taste authentic Chinese cuisine at "Dumpling Legend". Students applied their knowledge of Chinese characters to read the menu and ordered their dishes and enjoyed a variety of delectable dishes.

Following the delightful lunch, the students were divided into five groups to participate in Chinese language and cultural activities. They were asked to observe shop signs, street signs and posters, and then complete a Chinese quiz questionnaire about Chinatown. The students also engaged in a China-themed shopping activity. Armed with shopping lists prepared by their teachers, they visited different shops in Chinatown to buy different items. At the checkout, the students confidently spoke Chinese with the service people for payment and asking for the receipts.

The Chinese cultural trip provided the students with valuable real-life experiences that deepened their understanding and appreciation of contemporary Chinese culture, as well as enhanced their enthusiasm in learning Chinese language and culture.
