Dean of Humanities and Arts, Professor Miguel Mera, Visited the Confucius Institute

Professor Miguel Mera, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Southampton, paid a visit to the Confucius Institute (CI) on 4th March 2024.

British Director Dr Ying Zheng and Chinese Director Dr Jiangzhi Zhang, together with CI teachers Ying Fu, Tao Peng and Zhiqiang Xu introduced to Prof Mera the work undertaking by CI, including its history, development, academic research, language teaching and cultural activities.

Professor Mera showed strong interest in the CI and commented positively on its teaching outreach in the Hampshire area. He hoped that the CI would continue to use its strengths to join the university academic research and cultural exchanges. He encouraged the teachers to conduct research on their teaching methods, particularly examining the social impact of Chinese language teaching in economically disadvantaged community schools.
