Successful MSc graduates are recognised for their achievements
Nine successful graduates of the five CORMSIS MSc programmes in 2015-16 were awarded prizes at a University of Southampton ceremony in May.
They all impressed senior managers of external organizations with the quality of their analysis during three month summer projects in 2016 as part of their postgraduate degrees and some have secured jobs with their sponsoring companies.
Head of Mathematical Sciences, Professor Jon Forster says: “The increasing importance of big data in the workplace brings many rewarding career opportunities for graduates with analytical, statistical and mathematical skills. I am very proud of our graduates for achieving so much in short summer projects and am not surprised many have already found jobs or are engaged in higher study.”
Southampton Business School Director of Enterprise, Dr Stefan Cantore says: “A knowledge of business analytics can be a passport to successful careers across many sectors. Our graduates have tackled a wide range of complex business challenges during their short summer projects and we are proud of their achievements.”
MSc Supply Chain Management & Logistics graduate Caline El Mir says: “Throughout the degree, I learned a great deal about maths to help with analysis together with plenty of soft skills that will be essential in my career. During the project with Rolls-Royce, I was asked to combine engineering with the supply chain which was a new field for me. I found the challenge complicated but very interesting.”
