S3RI wins Office for National Statistics contract

A team led by Professor Paul Smith of the Dept of Social Statistics & Demography has won the next phase of a contract to provide research consultancy in statistical methodology (and related areas) to the Office for National Statistics. The latest phase runs Apr 2021 – Sep 2022 and funds most of a post-doc post to support delivery of particular projects. The remainder of the funding pays for the use of expert staff from S3RI.

The University of Southampton has an excellent track record in providing statistical methodology services to the ONS – 2020 is the 25th anniversary of the first such contract and over this period this work has been worth around £2.5m (or rather more if expressed in today's prices). It also seems right to use this opportunity for a big thank you to all the people who have supported the contract over that time.
