Mr Jonathan Lightfoot
Learning Designer
Jonathan is a Learning Designer with over 20 years’ experience. He completed a PGCE in Social Sciences in secondary education and taught for six years. In 1998 he joined Key Training in London, travelling around the UK training Windows and Microsoft Office to businesses, the public sector and charities.
After almost 2 years as an external consultant, he joined the University in 2007 supporting the roll-out of new versions of Windows and MS Office. Over his time at the University he has won 3 VC Awards for his work in training and supporting IT services. His recent and current work includes (but is not limited to):
• Developing student and staff digital capabilities through curated learning via JISC Discovery tool and LinkedIn Learning
• Training our researchers to create accessible and engaging content in Word & Adobe (thesis) and PowerPoint (posters)
• Supporting Medicine’s SSU2 Medical Humanities: Creating Digital Learning Resources in which medical students learn to create a re-usable and accessible learning resource on a topic of their choice
• Working with our Media Team to develop the Blackboard Film School course – a resource for staff and students to find out how to create better videos
• Supporting Physics & Astronomy in creating a series of educational videos around their Bonsu software
• As a Microsoft Office Specialist handling enquiries about use of the Microsoft suite
In his spare time, he enjoys cooperative board games, escape rooms, directing plays/pantomimes and the odd bit of Steampunk.
