Ms Lorna Hunter-Caple
Learning Designer
Lorna began her career in Education straight after completing a degree in History. She spent 13 years teaching secondary pupils before choosing to focus on Special Educational Needs and differently-abled children in a wider setting. She took a brief detour from Education and flirted with the idea of becoming a solicitor. After successfully completing her legal secretary qualification, she decided to make a difference to the world and ‘save lives’ (ie ‘take people to court who don’t pay their speeding tickets’) before eventually becoming a Learning Designer and police trainer within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. She helped design lessons for the new degree route into policing, as well as designing learning and apps for officers and staff at all levels.
In the past Lorna has been an Autism Ambassador, and a team lead for wellbeing, leading several initiatives across the police. When at her desk, she'll usually be drinking loose leaf tea from a fine bone china mug and when away she works as a part-time ‘MUber’ (Mum-Uber) for her two teenage children.
