As part of the Festival of Doctoral Research, iSolutions will be running a series of helpful courses, tailored to the specific needs of our doctoral researcher community.
Whether you want to be a pro in Word, produce an engaging research poster or make an accessible PDF - there is a course for you!
All courses are bookable through Gradbook.
10:30 - 11:30, 5 May, 2017.
Accessibility means making sure your content is available to as many people as possible. When you make your PDFs accessible, it means adding tags, bookmarks, alt text, and other information that makes the files readable to users who are visually or mobility impaired. Using Acrobat DC and other tools such as Microsoft Word, it's now much easier and faster to create valid, accessible PDF files.
In this course, Jon Lightfoot explains why accessibility is important and what features an accessible PDF should include, and shows how to streamline the process of creating accessible PDFs using Word and Acrobat DC.

Producing an engaging research poster isn’t easy: You need to summarise your research into something that will fit onto a single piece of (albeit large) paper and you need to make your design clear and eye-catching.
In this session, Nic Monks and Jonathan Lightfoot will provide some guidance on:
The session will include examples of past research posters. You will be invited to vote for the best poster and your favourite features. Nic and Jon will then demonstrate how to use PowerPoint to re-create the features you have voted for.
