Our Wellbeing Practitioners are a dedicated team within Student Wellbeing, who can meet with students who may be experiencing personal or emotional difficulties. These 1:1 appointments can be held in-person on Highfield Campus on online via Microsoft Teams. Our Wellbeing Practitioners have previously helped support students with various struggles including bereavement, exam stress and anxiety, self-harm, financial issues and harassment.
How can students access Wellbeing Practitioner support?
In the first instance, we would encourage a student to speak with a Wellbeing Advisor for a Wellbeing Chat. Here, our Wellbeing Advisors can provide appropriate advice and support for a student's situation and discuss the option of Wellbeing Practitioner support in more detail and whether this would be suitable.
What should I expect from a Wellbeing Practitioner appointment?
Our Wellbeing Practitioners aim to help students develop practical coping strategies, management techniques and explore self-help resources. They aim to work with a student towards practical solutions and put together a plan for accessing any long-term support that may be helpful.
We also have various specialised practitioners who work specifically within harassment and discrimination.
Please see below for further information about the support and service they provide.
Report + Support
Acts of harassment, discrimination or hate are never ok. You can report something anonymously or report something and get support from an advisor.
Any student whose behaviout does not meet our expected standards may be dealt with through the University's Regulations Governing Student Discipline. The link below will provide more information on the process.
