Dr Luis Fernando Arenas is a visiting academic at the Energy Technology Group of the University of Southampton.
Luis Fernando Arenas joined the University as research fellow in 2017, after being awarded a PhD in Engineering and the Environment for his work on ‘An electrochemical engineering approach to improvements in the zinc-cerium redox flow battery’. His studies were funded through CONACYT and SEP scholarships. Previously, he graduated from an MSc programme on electrochemistry and chemical technology at UAdeC (Mexico), during which he developed biosensors on carbon nanotube films (2013). He spent a year as part-time researcher at COMIMSA. He obtained a BSc in chemistry (hons.) at the Faculty of Chemistry of UAdeC in 2010. His dissertation treated on the corrosion of oil and gas line pipe steels. He has been visiting researcher in UNAM and CIDETEQ (Mexico), and UNC (Argentina). He is part of the SCI ambassador scheme for early career researchers.
