Aleksander Lidtke MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics: Spacecraft Engineering
Hi, I'm Aleksander Lidtke and I studied MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics: Spacecraft Engineering within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
My course is, interesting and often exciting. I am greatly impressed by the progress I have made in just two years. When I was coming to the university I did not expect to learn so much in such a short period of time. I genuinely feel I am gaining valuable skills and knowledge.
Aleksander Lidtke travelled from Poland to take up a place on the MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics: Spacecraft Engineering course after his research into universities convinced him Southampton was the best place to study for this challenging qualification.
The international student had always dreamed of getting involved in space exploration and is delighted at his progress so far. "I certainly did not expect to learn so much in such a short period of time," he explains. "I genuinely feel I am gaining valuable skills and knowledge. Above all, I enjoy learning. I am also pleased that the university seeks students' opinions on the courses and takes our views into account."
Aleksander likes his lecturers and tutors: "Many had worked in the relevant industry (or still do) before taking up teaching. They are friendly and rather informal, even though they are experts in their fields. I am an independent learner but every single time I genuinely needed any sort of support from lecturers or my personal tutor I always got it."
Although he tried out several of the university's 260 clubs and societies, he decided to concentrate on sailing, although he later decided to learn to kite surf. "I must say that I have been seriously impressed by the hardware the societies have got at their disposal - ranging from windsurfing boards, yachts, powerboats, gliders and sky diving equipment."
