Mr Mohammad Muazzam Sharif is Postgraduate research student within English at the University of Southampton.

Prior to attending the University of Southampton for my PhD, I gained a Master's degree in English Literature and Applied Linguistics from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2004 and joined the same as a lecturer in 2005. In 2009-10, I attended the University of Georgia, USA as a Fulbright scholar in a Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship programme. There I had the opportunity to work under the supervision of renowned scholars, Dr. Alan Godlas and Prof Kenneth L. Honerkamp. As a Fulbright Alumnus I completed various online English Language Learning/Teaching courses, which include an online intensive course ATDOP (Access Teachers Development Online Program) from University of Oregon with 98.8 P, in 2012. Recently in January 2013 I have been awarded an Overseas Scholarship fully funded by Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, (AWKUM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Drawn by supervision opportunities and research resources, I began a PhD at the University of Southampton in 2013.

Research interests

My main research interest is in Drama, Shakespearean Drama in general and Hamlet in particular. The subject of my thesis is a critical and linguistic analysis of the play Hamlet. I gave my first year presentation on interrogative structures in the play and will be studying the early variant texts in great detail to assess the critical question of Hamlet's madness.

Other Activities

I am a member of the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture at Southampton and co-organiser of the seminar series for 2013-2014.
