The Representation of Male Rape in Film Comedy
The focus of my research is located within gender studies, particularly exploring masculinities and their representations. The topic of male rape is of great contemporary relevance yet vastly underexplored in many subjects. In the context of Film Comedy, male rape is of particular interest, as issues of subversion and alternative meanings allow male rape to be visually portrayed in a range of ways to many different audiences.
The attention on gender and representation has informed other research interests, particularly transgender studies and pornography studies.
