Peter Newbold MEnvSci Environmental Sciences
Senior Consultant Ecologist for BSG Ecology
Hi, I'm Peter Newbold and I studied MEnvSci Environmental Sciences within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
The wide range of activities and modules as well as my dissertation stood me in great standing to get my first job with the RSPB on Ramsey Island.
Throughout my four year master's degree at Southampton I specialised in Biodiversity and Conservation- although I did take the opportunity to take modules outside my ‘pathway' such as marine ecology, freshwater ecology, environmental politics and law as well as some geology modules. Outside my course I was very active with the clubs and societies such as conservation, student community action, various orchestras, some water sports and hillwalking.
This wide range of activities and modules as well as my dissertation stood me in great standing to get my first job with the RSPB on Ramsey Island. After that I worked for Natural England for a year and then moved into consultancy. Five years after graduating, I am now working as a Senior Ecologist for BSG ecology in Oxford. This role entails project and people management to assess a wide range of developments, from housing to renewables, for ecological impacts. It also includes projects such as developing a Biodiversity Strategy for Oxford University."
