In Year 3 of your Geography degree at Southampton, there is an exciting opportunity to take an integrated field course. This field course (GEOG3069: Water, People and Environment) is open to both final year BA and BSc students and usually runs at the end of January each year.
Typical course content
The module provides you with a critical, theoretical and applied understanding of the processes and dynamics that are shaping the fluvial environments of the Lower Mekong River, one of the world’s largest rivers. An integrated approach will be taken – you will develop your understanding of how the river may respond through erosion and sedimentation to environmental change but, critically, you will also develop your understanding of how humans shape, and are affected, by these processes.
The module will therefore appeal to all those with an interest in the environment and social justice, interactions between climate change and human migration, particularly in the context of development processes in the global South.
