Event details
'How do you join Medicins Sans Frontieres?' Organised by the Friends of MSF at the University of Southampton
Join us on Thursday 19th February for a talk by Dr Edward Armstrong (a doctor returning from his first MSF mission) and Didier Dequatre (a current student in Physiotherapy and an ex-Logistic Director and project co-ordinator for MSF) as they talk about their careers and how they started with MSF!
Dr. Edward Armstrong completed his first MSF mission in low-intensity conflict area on the border between Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states in India. The area was affected by the Naxalite insurgency - an ongoing conflict between the Maoists (Naxalites) and the Indian government
Didier Dequatre will discuss his personal experiences with MSF in Conflict and non-conflict areas in Burundi, Afghanistan, Congo Brazzaville and Liberia. He will also sahre his current understanding of the place of physiotherapy in MSF's context.
Our speakers have a range of experiences in medical, logistical, project management, roles and knowledge on Physiotherapy into MSF’s project, so students from any degree will be able to gain something from this evening!
