Southampton History Graduate Wins History of Parliament Dissertation Prize
We are delighted to announce that Alfie Banks, who graduated from the Department in the summer of 2020, has been awarded this year's prestigious History of Parliament Undergraduate Dissertation Prize for his work on 'The Imperial Afterlife of Warren Hastings, 1818-1947'.
The competition awards a prize to the best undergraduate dissertation 'on a subject relating to British or Irish parliamentary or political history' and is open to students from universities across the UK. The citation commended Alfie's essay for a 'sophisticated' use of source material and for its 'compelling' argument. The prize-winning work will be considered for publication in the scholarly journal Parliamentary History.
Warmest congratulations to Alfie from everyone in the department!
