Join the Department of Archaeology for the latest event in their Seminar Series, a talk from Professor Hella Eckhardt (University of Reading) titled "Bridge over troubled water: Roman finds from rivers at Piercebridge and beyond".
From Excalibur to the Nibelungen, objects thrown into water have exercised the poetic and popular imagination, and finds from wet contexts represent a major archaeological research theme. However, for the Roman period, progress has been hampered by both theoretical and methodological issues. This talk will present recent work at Piercebridge and a new project at Trier to explore Roman-period deposition in water.
This event is free to attend and all are welcome. Please note if wanting to attend via Microsoft Teams, you will need to contact Anna Vekony on [email protected] .
