Event details
The Institute of Maritime Law, along with colleagues from the Law School and across the University will be holding a interdisciplinary workshop looking at atmospheric pollution. This is a follow-up to the workshop held July 2016. Last year, our participants had suggested a number of initiatives around technological innovation and behavioural changes. (Please refer to the below report for details.) This year, the workshop will be focused on policy, regulation and broader sociological solutions. Its purpose is to showcase the progress in various technological issues presently undertaken, to identify the legal and policy developments at local and international level, to explore sociological solutions to air pollution challenges, and to seek closer engagement with local stakeholders.
Programme themes:
This interdisciplinary workshop is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and engage with local stakeholders. Speakers will give 20 minutes presentations with Q&A afterwards. The sessions will cover a range of different topics, combining the strength of the Law School in maritime law, environmental law and ethics and linking with engineering, logistics, medicine, business management and broader social science.
Two themes of the workshop are:
Theme 1: Improving air quality in Southampton: concerns and initiatives
Theme 2: Towards cleaner Southampton: regulatory and sociological perspectives
Speakers to be confirmed.
