Funding Call now open - Enterprise Competition

The funding call is now open after a budget in excess of £1.5M (a combination of University HEIF and IAA allocations) has been earmarked for the competition which will run until March 2017. The principal aim of the fund is to bring University research to end-users; from the lab to market.

The Enterprise Competition will be providing support for entrepreneurial projects and initiatives which stimulate business engagement both within and across Faculties.

Eligible projects will include:

>Knowledge Transfer through People

  • 1)inwards and outwards secondments/internships

2)Early Commercialisation Projects

  • technology development/market assessment/licensing/spin out formation

3)Stakeholder/Industry Engagement

  • strategic partnership development with business, central and local Government, or Third Sector organisations

4)Driving Culture Change

  • Industry showcase events/ best practice workshops/training programmes aimed at enhancing impact of research

5)Other innovative proposals to create non-academic impact from research.

Applications that have the potential of near-term licensing and the formation of a spin-out company are particularly welcome.

The competition will operate on an open-call basis; applications will be accepted at any time and will be reviewed on a quarterly basis boards. This call closes on Thursday 14 th May 2015 .

This competition will run until March 2017. Projects can span more than one year if appropriate and individual projects can be awarded up to a maximum of £160,000.
