Bernhard Maier
Hi, I'm Bernhard Maier and I studied within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.
My advice: be proactive; find the area of law that you enjoy and you will excel; look for as many mentors as you can find and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
After graduating with an LLB from the University of Southampton in 2008, Bernhard went on to complete an LLM in international business law at University College London. Bernhard then worked for the Berlin, New York, Paris and Shanghai offices of the international law firm Salans LLP. At Salans, Bernhard was involved in preparing the filing documentation for three initial public offerings (“IPOs”) on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange as well as a major investment treaty arbitration involving an Eastern European State.
After qualifying as an attorney in New York, Bernhard now works as an associate at the London-based public international law boutique firm, Volterra Fietta.
While working for the Energy Directorate General of the European Commission in 2010, Bernhard was closely involved in high-profile pipeline infrastructure negotiations between two resource-rich Central Asian States.
At Volterra Fietta, Bernhard advises and represents sovereign States, international organisations and corporate clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious public international law and international dispute resolution issues
