Harry Palmer 2013, 2013
MSc Crime Analysis
Hi, I'm Harry Palmer and I studied 2013 within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.
I graduated from the Law School with an LLB in 2013 but decided I wanted to stay at the University. I had enjoyed learning about penal policy and criminology so chose to study the MSc Crime Analysis.
“I graduated from the Southampton Law School with an LLB in 2013 but decided I wanted to stay on at the University. I had enjoyed learning about penal policy and criminology so chose to study the MSc in Crime Analysis. It looked a very interesting degree and I liked the interdisciplinary nature of the programme with some modules taught by academics in social sciences. It was the right choice.
“There is a small group of students on the masters, bringing knowledge and expertise from several countries and we work together well. In our tutorials we discuss contemporary matters with the course director Phil Palmer (no relation), it is a broader degree than one just covering law.
“I am planning to go on to take a PhD at the Institute for Criminal Justice at the University of Southampton, examining the National Intelligence Model, part of intelligence-led policing. Learning about research methodologies ad practices during the MSc will give me a good grounding in the tools I’ll need as a postgraduate researcher.”
