Harvi Tan LLB (Law)
Hi, I'm Harvi Tan and I studied LLB (Law) within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.
For me the University of Southampton was the best place to study for a whole variety of reasons. Most importantly the programme is a qualifying law degree that is recognised across the Commonwealth.
I wanted to study a degree in law because I wanted to better my career prospects and to fulfil my life goal of becoming a lawyer.
For me the University of Southampton was the best place to study for a whole variety of reasons. Most importantly the programme is a qualifying law degree that is recognised across the Commonwealth. It also has a great reputation overseas, particularly in the Times Higher Education World Universities ranking.
I found the tutors were friendly and approachable and they took the time to pay close attention to the needs of individual students. They were a great help to me throughout my course.
The array of resources was also really good and it was very appealing to me that the University was easily accessible to London. Low crime rates and low cost of living were also important factors when I was deciding which university to apply to.
I am thoroughly enjoying my time at Southampton and it has been a great platform for me to interact with graduate employers and postgraduate course providers.
One of the University’s distinguishing factors is that it arranges for law firms and sets of chambers to come down to the campus to talk to students. From this I have gained experience marshalling the Recorder of Winchester and Salisbury, shadowing a senior Crown advocate and effectively acting as a case worker for the prosecution.
I am proud to be a student at Southampton Law School and would definitely recommend it as a place to study for other international students.
