Paul Musa LLB Law, 2018
Hi, I'm Paul Musa and I studied LLB Law within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.
Going to Southampton was a game changer for me. I won prizes, was published in journals and blogs and I was awarded funding for my start up business, What&Where, a marketplace for students to find the best independent bars, restaurants, pubs & coffee shops in Southampton and get discounts/deals.
At Southampton Law School, I enjoyed being taught by world class lecturers and academics. They pushed my level of thinking. The staff were active in ensuring that we had access to City firms through fairs and events and I appreciated that.
In my final year, I applied for a vacation scheme at DWF LLP. I was offered the training contract and decided that I’d spend my time off prior to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the New Entrepreneurs Foundation Programme (NEF) where I could spend time working on my start up. The NEF included a work placement, networking opportunities and coaching, which has invaluable to me.
Alongside the LPC, I started my own football business podcast with the aim of showing fans what life behind the scenes is like, it’s great because I get to network with people in the game like in-house lawyers.
My best advice to a new student would be to stay well connected and build bridges; the people around you are going to spur you on and achieve great things.
