Law School Academics Appointed as Expert Advisors to Southampton City Council Inquiry

In October 2023, Dr Mark Jordan and Professor Helen Carr were appointed as Expert Advisors to Southampton City Council’s Scrutiny Inquiry into the Private Rented Sector. The Inquiry will take place over six meetings from November 2023 to April 2024 and aims to identify opportunities to improve outcomes for private sector renters in Southampton.

As Expert Advisors, Dr Jordan and Professor Carr will attend all inquiry meetings, give presentations on discrete aspects of housing law and policy, and field questions from the Panel. In doing so, they will help to shape the evidence base for the inquiry, support briefings for the Panel, and act as a sounding board for the Inquiry Manager during the inquiry and in the development of the final report.
