Global Legal Clinic student shortlisted for LawWorks Pro Bono Awards
The University of Southampton Global Legal Clinic is delighted to announce that Sophia-Ada Hamdan, a second-year Law student and President of the Clinic Student Committee, has been shortlisted in the prestigious ‘Best contribution by an individual student’ category in the LawWorks and Attorney General’s
Pro Bono Awards 2024
. Sophia has played a key role in promoting the Clinic’s pro bono activities and helping establish the foundations of the Clinic Student Committee. Sophia is also a caseworker in the Clinic where she supports clients with their legal problems. The judges recognised Sophia’s valuable contributions in helping to foster pro bono values such as duties towards others, irrespective of their defining characteristics, and client care in the Clinic, as well as her in supporting her Committee colleagues.
The Clinic was launched in February 2024
and currently has 110 Law students supporting staff, students, and members of the wider public with their legal issues. In November 2023, the Clinic played a leading role in establishing the
Hampshire & Isle of White Pro Bono Committee
