Event details
We are delighted to welcome Southampton Law School alumnus, Mr Stefan Cross QC for this distinguished lecture, organised by the School’s recently launched Stefan Cross Centre for Women, Equality & Law. Mr Stefan Cross QC will be addressing the following questions according to his own personal experiences: 50 Years after the legend of the Ford Dagenham strike, is it a myth that Dagenham women won equal pay for themselves and others, and who are the legendary figures in equal pay litigation since 1970? Is Carrie Gracie, who resigned from her post as China editor at the BBC in 2018 over pay discrimination claims, a legend? Was the Equal Pay Act legendary or not? Is the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Gender Pay Gap a myth? Is trade union support for equal pay a myth? Is Gender Pay Gap reporting a myth? Do we still need equal pay legislation?
