Southampton is a great place to study; it gives you that city atmosphere without it being like London. The place has a great student scene meaning that there is always something to do.
The resources that we are provided with at the law school are brilliant and we have absolutely everything that we need.
When I first came to visit, the friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the amazing campus is what influenced me to place it as my first choice because it made me feel welcome and that I wasn’t just another number.
At Southampton Law School you cannot get away from the networking opportunities, there is always another event or workshop allowing you to network with law firms. The law fair was amazing, the fact that so many law firms came down to the university and this gave us the best opportunity to network. While I have been at Southampton I have undertaken a vacation scheme at a law firm and a mini pupillage at a barristers chambers, these have allowed me to gain that much needed experience and has given me the chance to see what law is like in practice.
I have taken up many opportunities; these include the Streetlaw programme, being a Pathways to Law Mentor, an Access to Southampton Mentor alongside helping out at the open day events within the law school. These have all helped me gain many skills and which I can use in future employment especially my communication skills. Also, I have attended many events which the Law Society and Inns of Court Society have laid on which have assisted me in networking opportunities.
