Event details

Climate Change – How actuaries could save the day? Sandy Trust, lead author of The Emperor’s New Climate Scenarios, a joint paper between actuaries and scientists at Exeter University, joins us to share the findings and implications - covering why science needs to be complemented by risk, how we underestimated climate change, reasons for hope and how actuaries could save the day. Sandy joins us from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries where he is Council Sustainability Lead, explaining why it is so risky to go past the 1.5C ‘net zero’ target, why it is likely we will and the role we as an industry can play in creating a solution.

The lecture will be from 6-7pm and this will be followed by refreshments at 7-8pm in building 56. You must book to attend this event, bookings close at 1pm on 14 February 2024.
