Music at Southampton is among the most innovative and exciting music departments in the UK, offering a stimulating and wide-ranging academic environment for undergraduate and postgraduate study. We nurture an eclectic and inclusive musical culture, where students can experience and create music from classical, popular and jazz traditions and receive world-class coaching and tuition over a broad spectrum of styles and idioms. We are proud of the important contribution we make to arts on campus and to the flourishing cultural scene in the region.
But this is a challenging time for arts departments, and we need your help to ensure we continue to realise our ambitions. We seek funding to support bursaries for talented musicians, for improvement to our facilities and instruments, and for artist residencies, concerts, master classes and composer workshops.
Right now we are seeking support for our keyboards: watch our new Meet the Piano videos to find out more about some of the instruments we need help to maintain. And our Studying the Piano film tells you more about our programme and all the instruments we offer for our students, from early pianos and harpsichords, to modern grands and electronic keyboards for jazz and pop.
Your gift - whether it is a single donation, a legacy pledge, or a regular contribution - can make a real difference to the future of Music at Southampton and to the musical lives and careers of our students.

Your Gifts
Recent gifts and legacies have been essential to new initiatives in the Music department. A generous gift from an anonymous donor funded a complete makeover of our electronic studios . A legacy from Mary Ottoway allowed us to acquire and refurbish excellent violins and bows for student use. Smaller donations have supported a range of projects including a major premiere and replacement of some of our pianos.
