After graduating from Southampton I worked in SE Sulawesi, Indonesia, on a fisheries co-management project before moving back to the UK to work for Loch Duart Ltd on the integrated aquaculture of Atlantic salmon, sea urchins and seaweed. I left this job to work for Blue Ventures, an NGO operating in SW Madagascar, as the Mariculture Development Coordinator, developing sea cucumber and seaweed farming as an alternative livelihood for coastal communities for 2.5 years.

I like working at the interface between industry and academia, and am currently undertaking research for a commercial abalone farm in South Africa on the high density culture of the commercial sea cucumber Holothuria scabra in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS).
