In trouble and need support while travelling or working overseas on behalf of the University? Here’s what you should do:
In an emergency
-
Contact the University’s Security Team on +442380 593311 – this line is staffed 24/7 and they are trained to act as first responders for colleagues in difficulty abroad. Then contact your line manager and update the
incident report form
as soon as possible.
If you need medical treatment
-
Contact the local emergency services first, if necessary, and then contact the University’s insurance company on +44(0)20 8608 4100 as soon as possible for all incidents that may lead to a claim – they may be able to recommend particular medical facilities in your area (policy number: RTT306251). Then contact your line manager.
If you have visa or immigration problems
-
During UK office hours, contact your line manager first – they will help you source the appropriate support at the University. Out of hours, contact the University’s Security Team on +442380 593311 and, if necessary, your local Embassy or Consular Office (this should be noted on your itinerary).
If your University phone or laptop is lost or stolen
-
Contact iSolutions on +442380 595656 during UK office hours. You can also contact Vodafone directly on +447836 191191 regarding your phone contract.
Colleagues across the University are on hand to answer questions about overseas travel before and during your trip. They can also help you source further advice on issues such as visas, tax, social security and health and safety.
