Call For Papers: The 7th Annual Postgraduate Conference of the British and Irish Association for Holocaust Studies
We are delighted to share the call for papers for the 7th Annual Postgraduate Conference of the British and Irish Association for Holocaust Studies, to be held at the University of Manchester on 15 May 2023.
The British and Irish Association for Holocaust Studies welcome papers on any aspect of Holocaust studies, from any relevant field of inquiry. The conference is intended to highlight postgraduate research in Holocaust studies, and to provide students with a supportive environment in which to present their research. Topics of interest may include (but are not limited to):
- Witnesses to the Holocaust
- Geographies of Nazi violence
- Refugees of Nazi persecution
- Gender and the Holocaust
- The Holocaust in comparative genocide studies
- Sexuality and the Holocaust
- Transnational studies of the Holocaust
- Memorialisation, representation of, and public engagement with the Holocaust
- Theological, political and other responses to persecution
- Age and the Holocaust
Both postgraduate-taught and postgraduate-research students are encouraged to put forward papers. Scholars from all institutions are welcome to apply, with a small number of limited travel bursaries available. Please indicate in your application if you would like to be considered for these.
Paper proposals should include the title of the paper, an abstract of no more than 300 words and a short biography of the speaker in a single MS Word document. All proposals should be sent to Niamh Hanrahan at [email protected] for consideration by 5pm (UK time) Friday 17 March 2023 .
