In Memoriam: Professor Jim Aitken
Members of the Parkes Institute are very sad to announce the untimely death of Professor Jim Aitken of the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge.
Jim was appointed as the research fellow in the AHRC Greek Bible in the Graeco-Roman World (2001-2006) project, co-directed by Tessa Rajak of Reading University and Sarah Pearce at Southampton, one of the five projects of the AHRC Parkes Centre. Starting in 2009, Jim enjoyed a very successful career at the University of Cambridge, and was until recently Chair of the Faculty of Divinity. He was especially known for his innovative work in the study of the Greek Bible and recently gave the prestigious Grinfield Lectures dedicated to this field at the University of Oxford.
Tributes to him as teacher and friend may be found on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/jimjames.aitken .
May his memory be for a blessing.
