Dr John Coxon is a postdoctoral research assistant in the Space Environment Physics group, working with Dr Rob Fear. His research interests include currents in near-Earth space, as well as Flux Transfer Events (FTEs), the method by which the Sun and Earth's magnetic fields interconnect.
Outside of research, is the lead of the Planeterrella public engagement programme , as his work is related to space weather and the causes of the aurora. He has experience teaching in both schools and universities. He is on MIST Council , the governing body of an organisation representing Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and Solar-Terrestrial researchers in the UK. He also is in charge of the social media and website.
