Dr Harry Annison is Associate Professor in Criminal Law and Criminology at Southampton Law School, Southampton University. This response is based on the ESRC-funded research project published as Dangerous Politics, which analysed the indeterminate Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) sentence and the underlying policymaking processes. It is further underpinned by the research project ‘Exploring the Secondary Pains of Indeterminate Imprisonment: The case of Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) families.
