With universities around the world playing an essential role in the success of the planet’s collective climate agenda, the Commonwealth, t he Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the British Council have partnered to establish the Commonwealth Futures Climate Research Cohort , supporting 26 rising-star researchers from 16 countries to bring their expertise to a global stage.
The ACU - British Council partnership works to build a more equitable research landscape, ensuring that university research continues to inspire action and play a key role delivering impactful climate solutions across the Commonwealth.
Throughout 2021, the 26 researches will enagage together during a series of expert-led workshops to design and deliver peer-led research-to-action projects. The Cohort will be monitored by senior acdemics and experts in the sector to engage with global climate stakeholders at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November 2021.
Amongst those named is University of Southampton alumnus and Policy Research Fellow in the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI), Dr Wassim Dbouk .
