We will enhance the subnational, national and international public policy impact of research conducted by University of Southampton staff and students, ensuring that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are central to our practices.
We will:
EDI is at the heart of Public Policy|Southampton and we champion the UK Government's Research & Development Roadmap that recognises EDI is vital to research and the research culture, particularly when it comes to the quality of research and its impact. We are proud of all the academics who have worked with us to turn their research into evidence-informed policy.
To establish our own role and responsibility in championing EDI in a genuine and impactful way, we ran a consultation exploring what our membership needed to support public policy engagement through an EDI lens. The results of the survey formed the basis of our first EDI Report and Two-Year Action Plan that ran until summer 2022. We are currently in the process of developing the next iteration of this Action Plan to further embed EDI in all that we do.
