About Session:
What to expect
Dr Helen Goulding will share her experiences of successful researcher - policymaker collaborations and discuss effective influencing techniques. She will give practical tips and advice, answer your questions and ask you to share any of your own experiences with policymakers. The workshop is interactive and Helen encourages you to attend with your video cameras turned on, to get the most from the session.
Before the workshop you will be sent some short reading on the policy process, including tips from a range of policymakers, so that you come to the workshop armed with some essential information.

About the Trainer
Helen is an alumnus of the University of Southampton (PhD Oceanography 1998). She has broad and deep experience of policymaking and regulation, having worked in policy and programme management for the UK Government, the Welcome Trust, the Audit Commission and Ofgem.
Helen set up her training company, Quercus Training, in 2011 and now spends much of her time training and coaching researchers at all levels in policy making, people management, influencing & negotiation, career development and more. She continues to liaise regularly with her policy contacts.
