In this news round up we shine a spotlight on recent biometric related news articles

Senator Al Franken has been pressing for more privacy safeguards in the United States around "faceprints".  According to Senator Franken, millions of people are part of facial recognition databases, which may not have enough inbuilt protection for people's privacy.  Such facial recognition is widely used, from law enforcement all the way to tagging people in facebook photographs.

In other news, Javier Galbally has been trying to use spoofed iris images to fool iris recognition systems.  In a set of simulated attacks, Galbally was able to fool the system into accepting fake images around 40% of the time.
