An electric shower typically consumes 8 litres of water per minute. In Chancellors Court within Glen Eyre Halls of Residence, the flowrate from the non-electric showers was found to be more than 12 litres per minute. In order to reduce the volume of water used by the non-electric showers and to match the performance of the electric shower units, low flow showerheads were installed across Chancellors Court.
This project resulted in an annual saving of 7,000m 3 , £15,500 and 7 tonnes/CO 2 .
